In April, I had the honour and privilege to photograph the 11th Annual Lupus Gala Vancouver. Held at the Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver, the Gala was a gorgeous affair benefitting a great cause – Lupus. A chronic inflammatory disease that occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own organs, Lupus affects about 50,000 Canadians…including my dear friend Lisa.
I don’t exaggerate in the least when I say that Lisa is one of the most amazing women I know. She’s a nurse, a wife, a mother, and a friend to many. Next on her list of accomplishments? Writing a book about living with Lupus. She has never let this disease keep her down (at least not for too long) and I’m not the only one she inspires with her courage and strength in the midst of it all.
And Lisa isn’t alone…many of the guests at the Gala either have Lupus, or know someone who does. Here’s to finding a cure!
This is Lisa and her dashing (not to mention amazing and supportive) husband Francois.
The lovely lady on the left is the delightful Josie Bradley, who helped organize this spectacular evening!
Since we were all spiffed up, figured J and I should get in on the photobooth action!
